Early achievements include winning the BBC Big Band of the year and
making my TV debut playing at the Proms in the park (Manchester)
In December 2005, I finished a successful U.K. tour with the "Young
Voices" show working with great singers including Joss stone and
Lemar at the M.E.N arena, Birmingham N.I.A, Belfast Odyssey arena
and The Royal Albert Hall.
In April 2006, I won the first 'London Saxophone Competition' (judged
by John Harle) and I took ABRSM Diploma (attained with Distinction) In
2007/2008 I was part of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra.
In the summer of 2007 I attended the first ever national youth jazz
summer school run by Trinity teacher, Issie Barrett where I received
coaching from Alec Dankworth, Liam Noble, Mark Lockheart and
Tim
Garland.
Since september 2008 I have been studying contemporary saxophone
in Manchester at the Royal Northern College of Music under
Rob
Buckland and studying Music at the RNCM with Steve Berry and
Andy
Scott. I have been involved in various ensembles such as the RNCM
Wind Orchestra, RNCM Big Band and RNCM Composer's Ensemble.
In 2010 I spent a month playing the only saxophone chair in John
Adams’ famous opera “I was looking at the ceiling and then I saw the
sky” at the Royal theatre in London. I also won the RNCM concerto
competition, playing Andy Scott’s ‘Dark Rain’ as the highlight of the
RNCM woodwind weekend. This summer I spent a week working with
Clark Rundell and Mark Anthony Turnage whilst performing his
concerto ‘Blood on the floor’ with symphony orchestra at the
Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and various other venues in the
Netherlands.
I am currently working on the music for my first solo project which will
be recorded in 2011...
